"Dear AHEA Colleagues,

Welcome to the new academic year! We are back at our desks again, and I hope 2026-27 will offer us many intellectually stimulating conversations with colleagues and students.

We are very happy to report to you that our collaboration with Fulbright Hungary is thriving. In the early days of September, a new cohort of US scholars arrived in Hungary, and we had the pleasure to meet them and introduce them to our Association.  The Hungarian Fulbrighters have also started teaching and research in the US, and we offer all the help required to settle in the new environment. We hope that connecting US based and Hungary based scholars will help with personal and academic matters and it will also cement their relationship to our organization.

We are also very pleased to let you know that the 2026 issue of Hungarian Cultural Studies has been published. The issue contains a list of scholarly studies and book reviews, ranging from a discussion of Hungarian folk tales to articles discussing the representation of American Indians in Hungarian writing. The preparations for the 2027 AHEA conference are also underway. The conference will take place at Indiana University, Bloomington, between April 22-24, 2017. We are very excited to co-organize this event with IU's Hungarian Studies program. Please follow our website for updates on the call for papers, which will be published before October 10, and for any other academic or practical detail. We look forward to seeing you all there.
